Is Jesus God?
Let the following scripture verses speak for themselves:
"In
the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the WORD WAS
GOD. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by
Him; and without Him was not any thing made that was made. In
Him was life; and the life was the light of men." John 1:1-4
"To
wit, that GOD WAS IN CHRIST, reconciling the world to Himself, not
imputing their trespasses to them; and has committed to us the word of reconciliation." 2Cor 5:19
"'Most assuredly, I say to you, If a man keep My saying, he shall never see death.'
Then said the Jews to Him, 'Now we know that you have a devil. Abraham
is dead, as the prophets; and you say, 'If a man keep my saying, he
shall never taste of death.' Are you greater than our father Abraham,
which is dead? and the prophets are dead: whom do you make yourself out
to be?' Jesus answered, 'If I
honor myself, my honor is nothing: it is my Father that honors me;
of whom you say that He is your God: Yet you have not known Him; but I
know Him: and if I should say, I know Him not, I shall be a liar like
you: but I know Him, and keep His Word. Your father Abraham rejoiced to
see my day: and he saw it, and was glad.' Then said the Jews to Him, 'You are not yet fifty years old, and have you seen Abraham?' Jesus said to them, 'Most assuredly, I say to you, Before Abraham was, I AM.' Then
they took up stones to cast at Him: but Jesus hid Himself, and went out
of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by." John 8:51-59
"And
after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them:
then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and
said, 'Peace be to you.' Then he said to Thomas, 'Reach
your finger here, and look at my hands; and reach your hand here, and
put it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.' And Thomas answered and said to Him, 'MY LORD AND MY GOD!' Jesus said to Him, 'Thomas, because you have seen me, you have believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.' And many other signs
truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written
in this book: But these are written, that you might believe that Jesus
is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you might have life
through his name." John 20: 26-31
(Notice that Thomas did not get rebuked by Jesus for calling Him Lord and God!)
"Therefore
the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall
conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel ('God with
us') Isaiah 7:14
"Let
this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the
FORM OF GOD, thought it not robbery to be EQUAL WITH GOD: But
made Himself of no reputation, and took upon Him the form of a servant,
and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a
man, He humbled Himself, and became obedient to death, even the death
of the cross. Wherefore God also has highly exalted Him, and given Him
a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee
should bow, of things in heaven, and things on earth, and things under
the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ
is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." Philippians 2:5-11
"For
the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all
men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we
should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;
Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the
great GOD and our Savior Jesus Christ." Titus
2:11-13
"God,
who at various times and in different ways spoke in time past to the
fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His
Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He
made the worlds; who being the brightness of His glory, and the
express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of
His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down on the
right hand of the Majesty on high; Being made so much better than
the angels, as He has by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they. For
to which of the angels did He ever say, You are my Son, this day have I
begotten You? And again, I will be to Him a Father, and He shall be to
Me a Son? But when He again brings the firstborn into the world, He
says: 'Let all the angels of God worship Him.' And of the angels
He says: 'Who makes His angels spirits, and His ministers a flame of
fire.
But
to THE SON He says, Your throne, O GOD, is for ever and ever: a sceptre
of righteousness is the sceptre of Your Kingdom. You have loved
righteousness, and hated lawlessness; therefore God, even Your God, has
anointed You with the oil of gladness more than Your companions.
And: 'You, Lord, in the beginning laid the foundation of the
earth; and the heavens are the work of Your hands: They will
perish, but You remain; and they will all grow old like a
garment; like a cloak You will fold them up, and they will be
changed: but You are the same, and Your years will not fail.' But
to which of the angels has He ever said: 'Sit at My right hand, until I
make Your enemies Your footstool?' Are they not all ministering
spirits sent forth to minister for those who will inherit
salvation?" Hebrews 1
